in egypt here. this is a pro-mohamed morsi rally. some pro-morsi rallies taking place. this is all about the so-called power grab by mohamed morsi trying to tell the judges there that they can't overturn any of the decrees he has put in place. now, we have a draft constitution put in place approved by an assembly there. a hurry up draft constitution and citizens will vote on that in a couple of weeks judging from the crowd here, they're certainly pro morsi, but a lot of anger and frustration and this draft constitution does not represent a lot of the people there in egypt. we will continue to follow the story throughout the morning and continue to bring us live pictures and our reporters on the scene there, as well. >> this is also new to cnn. in the past few hours we learned that north korea's young leader kim jung-un plans to launch a rocket within days. this could raise tensions between the world's most secretive nation and the south korean neighbo and the u.s. seoul calls this a brave provocation. this would be south carolina's second attempt. you remember the first the rocket launch

of president morsi and his supporters and shifting away from the opposition factions behind us and the president's opponents. this morning, egypt's top court was set to rule on the constitutionality of president morsi's decrees last week and the constitutionality of this special panel that drafted the constitution. they released a statement saying they canceled the hearing after pro-morsi demonstrators, supporters of the president, surrounded the courthouse. it's not clear if or when this hearing is going to be rescheduled, but now it seems the road is a little more clear. the stage is set for the president to get his way, for this nationwide referendum to take place on december 15th. opposition factions behind us say they've been squeezed out of this process. they're concerned that an islamist islam ist dominated government down the road could deny them rights. if people don't like it, randi, they can go out to the ballot boxes and vote no. >> it soundsike that the judges in putting this off perhaps they don't feel safe. >> reporter: well, it was a tense situation this morning

. president morsi has faced some very, very tough criticism since he granted himself massive powers until a brand-new constitution is drafted. he declared last week that there is no court anywhere in that country that could overturn anything he decides. if the officials pass the draft today, though, it will go before egyptians for a popular vote in 15 days. and if that is approved, president morsi is going to lose a lot of those extended powers. all of this as images like this play out, and these are not good for egyptians and they are not good for americans. the u.s. embassy in cairo has been closed. protesters are blocking the entrance, and the clashes are happening very, very close by. there is no indication at this time, however, that our embassy there is threatened. stay tuned. we'll keep you posted to the developments in that country. >>> and also in the middle east, we are seeing a rare moment of cooperation today between the palestinian authority and hamas. it's coming thousands of miles away from where they usually live. they're in new york, and both sides want their united natio
